My love for portrait photography is rooted in an even deeper love for my fellow human and a fascination with how our brains, bodies and souls work. With my work I strive to encourage freedom of expression, the healing of trauma and the rewriting of negative self-censorship into positive self-talk and confidence. Having this deep purpose gives me a strong basis from which to create safe spaces for everyone who visits my studio and takes the bold step to be really seen. The results of this connection are the portraits we make together.

Having started in 2008 as a photographer of everything and everyone, over the past 17 years I have matured into a specialist portrait artist with a particular passion for people who need a helping hand and a kind word to come out of their comfort zone into the place where the magic starts to happen. I consider it the highest honour to listen to the fascinating stories of people from each corner of this beautiful earth, and hear how their lives have unfolded and what they want for the future.

When I venture out of the studio, it’s often to photograph a company in their own context. I’m just as comfortable spending a day in a corporate setting photographing 50 company headshots as I am in the studio with 1 person. I love the diversity of humanity and the extra beauty and conversations that brings, alongside the challenge of creating visual consistency without reducing everyone to a samey uniformity.

When one client told me after we finished a recent session together ‘you’re like a kind of photopsychologist’, I first blushed behind my beard and then decided to start using this new word! I love it wholeheartedly and have decided it describes my aspirations very well. I always want to see the best in people and enormously feel blessed and grateful to do what I do.
